HANFORD AGRICULTURE FARM & LEARNING LABORATORY
SIZE: 3.9 Acres
The cows have come home
The Future Farmers of America teach young people leadership skills through agricultural education. Their vital program in Hanford lacked just one thing: a site for hands-on learning where kids could house their animals. Phase I of this project has already made a huge difference for the program. The design includes a sheep and cattle barn, a swine barn, an arena where the students can practice showcasing their animals, a student tack room, and a small-animal building. In the future, a working farm with crops, shops and classroom will round out the educational opportunities. Accessible to three high schools, the farm has created a community focal point that enhances the learning experience for our future farmers and leaders.
