Building a healthy community

To accommodate their expansion from K-8 to K-12, Wonderful College Prep Academy added two new facilities: a Wellness / Fitness Center and Harvest Hall. The new additions benefit both students and their families. The new Wellness Fitness Center features medical offices available for use to anyone in the Lost Hills community, as well as offering nurse visits or sports physicals for students. The center has a family resource center and both mental and physical health services, plus an adjacent weight room and yoga room open to student athletes during the day, and the community after school hours. Across a breezeway sits a new covered sports field that allows shaded practice on hot days. The new Harvest Hall, also known as the school cafeteria, serves produce grown by students in the school garden, teaching both agriculture and nutrition in a tasty and exciting way. Harvest Hall has bountiful natural light and views out to the garden and covered outdoor dining area, and serves the students three meals a day if they need it. These unique facilities were designed and built under tight deadlines, and are changing the face of both education and health in Lost Hills.
