PG&E – THORNE AVE GC YARD UPGRADES
Same site, new look
PG&E owned and was using a site on Thorne Avenue in Fresno, but with a change in uses and facilities that no longer met their needs, they asked us to help them re-imagine the design, starting from scratch with an empty site. Working closely with both supervisors and end users, we condensed their initial idea of four new buildings into two with smaller footprints that still met all their needs, reducing costs considerably. Now they have an energy-efficient office building with temporary workstations, updated lockers, a breakroom, and new technology, as well as a materials warehouse and fleet maintenance building. Electric vehicle charging stations throughout the site allow them to recharge their trucks, and the whole site features efficient flow and a resourceful use of space. PG&E is using this design as an in-house example for these types of facilities, which works as well as any compliment we could receive.
