A healing environment, designed for the people who use it

Medical offices often work for the providers, but not always as well for the patients. With this project, TETER and Golden Valley looked at what people—whether they are healthy, recovering, or sick—need in an outpatient facility, and created a beautiful and highly functional space. By separating departments into “pods” with their own waiting areas, the design keeps people with others who have similar needs. A two-story glass entry bathes the interior in light and gives people views out, making for a calmer visit. Using different materials, signage, and cues like shaded entries, we made wayfinding easy and kept the experience focused on the user.
