COUNTY OF STANISLAUS – AG LEARNING CENTER

LOCATION: Modesto, CA
SERVICES: A / CA

A resource for farmers in a familiar setting

Stanislaus County wanted to create a central place where farmers could get questions answered, learn about new advances in agriculture, and hold events. Working with LPA, we conceived a design based on a family farm that has grown into a family business, with the buildings being repurposed for new uses. Buildings recall grain silos (the elevator even looks like a grain shaft), a cow barn, a chicken barn, and the family house, and the roofs mimic tiered barn roofs. The central area where tractors would have pulled in the hay is open and designed for events. Radiating from there, each agency is accessible so that farmers coming there to get an answer or solve a problem can easily find multiple agencies and leave with the information they need.
